this is actually fairly simple to do, and is as follows:įirst off you have to create your mod (which isnt really that hard to do I promise) and you can do so using the extremely helpful guide that the devs have posted here and click on the "basics of a DD mod" tab for a better explanation than I could probably give. I would recommend this approach as it will be more permanent and does not come with the downside of having to re add the names you added every time a darkest dungeon update comes along. The second method is to make a mod that adds the names of the characters/objects into the game. Repeat the process with the different folders for things like trinkets (which are in the miscellaneous string table file) and run the localization batch file when you have finished with all of your edits. once you have finished adding missing hero names, and abilities (follow the format of other objects as examples are already in the file) save the file and run the localization batch file to have the changes applied to your game. Make sure that you place this line AFTER the line which denotes your language (to find it easily use CTRL + F and search for ) but before the next language id on the list.
The first is finding the localization folder in the darkest dungeon file folder (which is located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DarkestDungeon\localization) and then opening the file labeled "heroes string table" with whatever text editor you prefer (I would recommend notepad++.) Once you have done that place the following line of text into the document:ĭont include the quotation marks on the outside of the text, and make sure to replace the first "chef" with whatever the blue text called your character, then replace the second chef with the actual name of the character. That means that the game does not have a name for the chef class stored in its english file for the names of things in the game (or French or spanish or whatever language you are using.) In order to fix this issue you can do one of two things (that I know of,) both of which involve messing with some game files.
Lets say that you have a modded character called the Chef, but when you load into the game the name is replaced with "" instead. You can fix it yourself but it can be kind of annoying, so im going to give you an example.
